Coalition for Kids makes Disney
Dream come true
for two terminally-ill Polish children
February 15, 2009; Halifax,
NS, Canada: As part of its Live the Dream Experience program, Coalition for Kids International,
a Halifax based non profit organization, has arranged a dream visit to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida
for two terminally-ill Polish children.
10-year old Agata from Gdansk, who has muscular atrophy and only weighs 9kg, and 8-old Lucja from
Lowicz, who has cancer, will have their dreams come true on February 20 when they take-off on a six day trip to the magical
world of fairy tales.
Kamila Rybicka,
the Coalition’s president and organizer of the trip, will head to Florida to meet the two children, their moms and a
chaperone, as they arrive from Poland - and then Kamila will spend the following days making sure that Agata and Lucja have
the “time of their lives”.
This
dream trip for Agata and Lucja is organized in conjunction with the Polish children’s
charity, Fundacja Dziecieca Fantazja, which was also Kamila’s creation and which has, since 2004, fulfilled over 950
fantasies and dreams for terminally-ill children in Eastern Europe.
Coalition
for Kids International’s other initiatives include:
Journeys for a Lifetime:
A program which sends small groups of local
teens and youth on trips to Eastern Europe – empowering them to fulfill the fantasies and dreams of
terminally-ill children in their homes and hospitals. Eight Journeys for a Lifetime trips are being
organized for 2009.
Miles of Smiles: A community program that, twice a week from
April through November, takes senior citizens from local centres on chauffeur-driven outings to their favourite destinations,
with lunch or afternoon tea along the way.
